Women’s Ministry

We see great things accomplished for God’s glory as women come together in the local church.  Our desire is for women to grow together in love for, adoration of, and service to Christ and one another. Our hope is to impact one another through care, community, and discipleship.  We see the fruit of these efforts impacting the world around us and furthering the gospel of Jesus Christ because of His grace, love, and mercy in our lives.

Women’s Summer Book Club: A group of women, aged 16 years old and up, will be meeting on Tuesday evenings in July to read and discuss the book, Gentle and Lowly, by Dane Orlund. The author’s introduction begins, “This is a book about the heart of Christ. Who is he? Who is he really? What is most natural to him? What ignites within him most immediately as he moves towards sinners and sufferers? What flows most freely, most instinctively? Who is he? ” The book takes us through scripture to answer these questions, so we will also be looking at our Bibles during our discussions. Location is to be determined based on the number of participants. We will begin the book together, but will not complete it in this group. Purchase books online or I have 8 books available to sell at a discounted price of $10, so please make your request when you sign up. Contact Lesley Mullery to sign up.

Local Conference: The Glory Conference with Jackie Hill Perry will be at the Hylton Memorial Chapel on September 10-11, 2021. If you are planning to attend, please buy your ticket online and then contact Gloria Robinson so the group can sit together. You can find more information and register here.

First Principles Class: Join with other women for 8 consecutive Sunday mornings in September & October for a non-homework class using the First Principles course of the Charles Simeon Trust. During each meeting, we will watch a video together, followed by a time of discussion. This course teaches fundamental principles for learning to study God’s Word and will be helpful (but not necessary) if you plan to join in either of the winter/spring genre courses. The course is $19 through the Charles Simeon Trust and will begin on September 12. Please email Valori Maresco for more information and to sign up for the class.

Women’s Simeon Trust Bible Study: This study focuses on the fundamental principles for understanding the various genres of the Bible. Our goal is to be able to read our Bibles in a way that helps us know and follow Christ more closely. We will be offering two different genre studies from January through May of 2022: Gospels & Acts (January 29-March 26) and Wisdom Literature (April 9-May 28). Each class costs $19, is five sessions long, and meets every other Saturday morning. In between classes we will watch a video lesson and study a passage of Scripture. Anyone is welcome regardless of past experience! Please contact Valori Maresco if you have any questions, or would like to join the class.
