Jason RemerJason Remer

Non-Staff Elder

Jason is one of our three non-staff Elders and joined the Leadership Team in November 2014. He occasionally preaches, delivers the Sunday announcements, and administers the sacraments. He organized and led the youth mission team to the Rancho 3M Orphanage in Mexico for many years and is probably best known for his leadership of the team that puts on the church’s annual Church Picnic.

In his full-time job, Jason is a Director with the Nuclear Energy Institute in Washington, D.C., where he establishes, leads, assesses, and manages nuclear safety, licensing, and engineering programs and policy for the commercial nuclear industry and U.S. Government facilities. Prior to that, he held a number of engineering roles, and notably, created and managed the first permanent interface between the Department of Homeland Security and the commercial nuclear power industry to address security coordination in response to the events of 9/11.

Jason has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Arkansas Tech University and is a licensed Professional Engineer.

In 2001, Jason and his wife, Gina, moved from Russellville, Arkansas to Fairfax and joined the church. They have six children, two sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, and five grandchildren (in parentheses): Jill and Rory (Grant and Miles), Joy and Peter (Evy, Reed, and Ned), Scott, Anna, David and Mae, and Wes.

Jason enjoys spending time with his family, crabbing at the Outer Banks, camping, canoeing, and home repair projects.
