Bible Reading Plan

Grow as a Disciple by Reading God’s Word

A disciple is a person who knows, loves, and obeys Jesus and encourages others to do the same.

One of the most important ways that a disciple can grow in their knowledge and understanding of God’s gospel is through regular Bible reading and meditation on Scripture. Reading the Bible each day helps us to know God better and renew our minds so we can think thoughts after him, and be transformed into his likeness.

Our church Bible reading plan is based on the Robert Murray M’Cheyne plan. If you follow it, you will read through the New Testament and the Psalms twice and half of the Old Testament in the first year. The second year, you will follow the same pattern but finish the other half of the Old Testament.
Alternative Options
  • Book-at-a-Time Bible Reading Plan: This plan takes you through the entire Bible in one year. It provides two readings for each day. The first reading alternates between Old and New Testament books. The second reading takes you through a chapter of the wisdom literature and Isaiah. There are five or six days each month with no designated reading to allow time to catch up on missed readings or to spend extra time in meditation.
  • 5x5x5 Bible Reading Plan: If you want a more modest goal, this plan by Discipleship Journal will allow you to read through the New Testament in 5 days a week, 5 minutes a day.
  • One Chapter a Day: Read through the Bible in three years by reading one chapter per day.
  • The Gospel Coalition Daily Email: Sign up here to receive M'Cheynes daily plan along with a commentary by D. A. Carson from his two books "For the Love of God." You can read all four chapters to read through the Bible in a year, or just two of the chapters to read through the Bible in two years.
Whichever plan helps you grow in your relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, please take that step in your Bible reading in the coming days.
