RGCC StaffVolunteer Spotlight (820 × 312 px) (5)

At Redeeming Grace Church, we believe the church is not a building, it’s people serving together to glorify God. We regularly highlight a volunteer or staff member who serves with RGC because they make everything we do possible!

Today we want to introduce you to Nelson Rivera, who serves on our Worship Team! Here's what a fellow brother in the church had to say about him:

Nelson is such an energetic, faithful, and talented member of our Worship Team! The rhythm section (bass and drums) of any worship band is incredibly important for musicality - it's what keeps our team on time, drives the energy of a worship set, and gets the congregation clapping. As both a bassist and a drummer, Nelson does an amazing job in all of these areas, not to mention his passion for using music to glorify God and seeing our congregation express loud, joyous singing of praise. We're grateful for the many hours he puts into serving on the worship band!

What volunteer role are you involved in within RGC?

I serve on the Worship Team!

How did God lead you to be involved in those areas?

My desire to be involved with music has existed for over a decade, but it wasn't rooted in God. Sometime after joining RGC, I became more aware of this and began to pray about whether I should continue with music or not. Over the course of nine months, I experienced the deconstruction of desiring music for myself and the construction of a new desire to worship and praise God through music.

How have you seen God at work in our church community?

It’s been very encouraging to see the leaders of our church be able to walk in and out of their roles in a peaceful way. It’s beautiful to see how God provides others to step into roles so that our leaders can rest, and also how he provides new opportunities to those who have stepped down!

Could you tell us some interesting facts about you?

I enjoy artistic stuff like photography, videography, painting/drawing, and poetry. I also love to hike and enjoy the outdoors!
