Lunch with Randy Newman

August 11, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

In Unlikely Converts: Improbable Stories of Faith and What They Teach Us About Evangelism, Dr. Randy Newman shares his findings on evangelism after interviewing forty people for his dissertation. Through this book, he aims to helps us know what to say to people who may be interested in Christianity and those who may not care at all about Christianity.

The title of the book includes the word evangelism and that might scare some folks away, but Randy speaks to us from a similar position.

“I struggle with evangelism. I’ve learned a lot from Campus Crusade’s founder and president Bill Bright’s book Witnessing Without Fear. But in my library, because of its title, I shelve that book under Fiction. I can’t remember ever witnessing without fear. And for that reason, I believe God uses me in encouraging fellow reluctant evangelists with the task of proclaiming good news when we’d all rather put in earbuds and listen to podcasts.” (Prologue, 24)

Consider staying for lunch after the service on Sunday, August 11, to hear a brief presentation from Randy about this recently released book and engage him with questions you might have about this topic.

Pizza and salad lunch is $3.00 or bring your own. (Gluten Free and Vegetarian options available!)
