RGCU: Lament as a Means of Grace
Sunday, February 22 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
Join us for a one-time RGCU session titled “Lament as a Means of Grace” as we begin our Week of Prayer & Fasting. This session, led by Edward Hunt, will focus on the topic of lament. Lament is a common experience for us as we experience suffering, yet we are often confused about how to lament biblically. How does Scripture shape the way we engage deep sorrows, intense grief, overwhelming disappointments, and regret?
To prepare for our time together, please read Psalm 77 and listen to Mark Vroegop’s sermon: The Grace of Lament. An additional resource is his book: Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy. Below are a few questions that will serve as a catalyst for contemplation and our conversation:
- What do we have to believe about God in order to lament well?
- What are the four steps of lament?
- What encouraged you?
- What hinders us from lamenting?
