The Resurrection of Jesus Christ

Luke 24:1-12 | Mark Mullery

A series of surprises (vv. 1-8)

...saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.”

Luke 9:22

A group of skeptics (vv. 9-11)

...and [Jesus] said to [the disciples], “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.”

Luke 24:46-48

What does it all mean? (v. 12)

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead...

1 Peter 1:3

  • Death is working backwards

All we like sheep have gone astray;

we have turned—every one—to his own way;

and the Lord has laid on him

the iniquity of us all.

Isaiah 53:6
