Hannah Lesley (3)

At Redeeming Grace Church, we seek to be a community that exalts, displays, and declares the gospel of Jesus Christ for the glory of God by using the gifts that God has given us to serve one another (1 Peter 4:10-11). We regularly highlight volunteers and staff members who serve with RGC because they make everything we do possible!

Today, we want to introduce you to Hannah Lesley, who serves on the Sunday Morning Administrative Team, the Worship Team, and the Sign Language Interpreting Team, and is one of the worship band directors for Five15 Youth Ministry.

Here is what a teen from the Five15 Youth Ministry and a fellow member had to say about them:

"Hannah is a sweet, loving, and caring person. She is always quick to serve, love, and care for those around her! Hannah has inspired me in my walk with God. I’m grateful and blessed to call her a friend and sister in Christ!"

~ Keira Falke, teen from Five15 Youth Ministry

"Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. (1 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬).

Hannah Lesly exemplifies this verse. Even though she graduated from high school only last year, her love for God and love for her local church family were apparent by the way she poured out her life for others. She was already serving by signing for the deaf/hard of hearing, singing on the Worship Team on Sunday mornings, and serving on the Worship Team for Five15 Youth Ministry. She is still serving in all those areas and even occasionally serves as the Sunday Morning Administrator. However, she will be the first to communicate (she’s able to do this in Spanish, American Sign Language (ASL), or English) that she doesn’t do this in her own strength. Those close to her know that she relies on the Holy Spirit to sustain her in all things. God does big things in willing servants, and she blesses us all by being willing."

How did God lead you to be involved in the area you are serving in?

Sunday has always been my favorite day of the week, as we have the opportunity to gather and worship the Lord with the local church. I believe God has placed a sweet desire on my heart to serve in ways that help others experience and love worship more deeply. After taking American Sign Language (ASL) throughout middle and high school, I grew to love interpreting worship and being a window for others to see the Lord. Since joining the Five15 Youth Ministry worship band a few years ago, God has continued to grow my heart for worship and for serving his church in both music and in the details behind the scenes as a part of the Sunday Morning Administrative Team.

How have you seen God at work in our church community?

I’ve been blessed to grow up in our Five15 Youth Ministry. Since stepping into more of a leadership role this past year, I've gotten to witness the beautiful work that God is doing in the next generation. I see 1 Timothy 4:12 lived out as students lead with faith, love, and boldness. There is a genuine desire and excitement in the teens to know the Lord and share his love with others. It’s truly amazing to see the maturity and passion that God is building in this generation!

Tell us some interesting facts about you.

I’m currently a college student at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA), working toward my associate’s degree and trusting the Lord with what’s next! I work part-time as a swim coach and am passionate about creating a positive team atmosphere where my swimmers can feel supported, motivated, and confident, both in and out of the water. My dad recently returned from a seven-month deployment, and it’s been such a joy spending time together as a family on walks, movie nights, etc. In my free time, I love getting coffee with friends, going to the beach, and skateboarding whenever I can. I really value time spent building meaningful relationships!

How did Jesus become your Lord and Savior?

I was blessed to grow up in a Christian home, but my faith didn't become my own until a Five15 youth retreat, when I gained an understanding of the Lord's deep and abounding steadfast love for me. During a season of overwhelming anxiety, God showed me his grace, mercy, and nearness in a powerful way. He has revealed himself to me as my loving Father, Prince of Peace, and Wonderful Counselor. I now rest in the truth that nothing can separate me from the love of Christ! (Romans 8:38–39).
