RGCC StaffVolunteer Spotlight (820 × 312 px) (2)

At Redeeming Grace Church, we believe the church is not a building, it’s people serving together to glorify God. We regularly highlight a volunteer or staff member who serves with RGC because they make everything we do possible!

Today we want to introduce you to Leah James, who serves as the Five15 Administrative Assistant! Here's what a fellow sister in the church had to say:

Leah’s welcoming smile and caring heart are only two of more things you would get to see and know of her quickly. I’m sure more people will get to experience her thoughtfulness, attention to detail, and pursuit of excellence as she begins her journey as staff here at RGC. And I pray, however many would take the time, that they would get to know her love for Christ, her eagerness to know him and his word, her attentive heart to his leading, and her desire to disciple others well. She’s tasted and seen the goodness of Christ and it has been a delight getting to know more of him through her.

What does a "typical week" look like for you in your role?

As the Five15 Administrative Assistant, a typical week in my role is mainly centered around planning and prepping all of the upcoming events for the Five15 Youth Ministry. It takes a village to successfully put on an event for the youth at our church, which is why coordinating and planning with all who are involved in Five15 is essential! During the summer, we plan exciting activities such as a trip to Kings Dominion, bonfire and worship nights, water games, and much more! Throughout the school year, Five15 hosts weekly meetings for 6th-12th grade students. These meetings are where group leaders and students all fellowship with one other through dinner, games, worship, teachings, and small group discussions.

How do you see God and the mission/vision of the church connected to your work?

The aim of the Five15 Youth Ministry is to welcome all students, share the Gospel, disciple them, and connect them to each other and the community of the church. My work is directly connected with this mission as these events are what provide a welcoming space allowing students to share their lives with their friends and group leaders. These events also provoke the hard conversations that spark relationships and connections with the students leading them to explore their faith and relationship with God.

How have you seen God at work in our church community?

I have been attending RGC for my entire life (a total of 21 years), and God has faithfully been at work in my life as well as in our church community. I have seen God transform the hearts and lives of my family, as they are now all believerspraise God! I have also been so encouraged by all the college students and younger generations who not only attend but faithfully serve our church. It has been such a privilege and honor to serve alongside these people, and I cannot wait to see what God has in store for this coming year!

Could you tell us some interesting facts about you?

I love going to the gym, taking care of my plants, and arts and crafts like crocheting and jewelry making. I have recently discovered a love for hiking. While the actual hiking part is not my favorite, I love the breathtaking views at that top; they leave me in awe of my Creator’s beautiful creation. I also love my cat; she is a very chubby Siberian cat (in her defense, she is mostly fluff)
