RGCC StaffVolunteer Spotlight (1056 × 816 px) (820 × 312 px) (1600 × 500 px) (7)

Redeeming Grace Church, we believe the church is not a building, it’s people serving together to glorify God. We regularly highlight volunteers and staff members who serve with RGC because they make everything we do possible!

Today we want to introduce you to the Lanthier Family, which includes Chris, Karin, Mirabella (16), Asher (14), Jonah (13), Samantha (10), and Edy (7).

Here is what a member of the church had to say about them:

"What a blessing it is to know the Lanthier family! It started with feeling seen and loved by Karin when I first came to RGC. Then I got an introduction to the whole family when I served with them on the 2023 D.R. Short-Term Mission Trip. As I got to know each family member, I became more amazed at this family who loves so freely and reminds me of Galatians 5:13-14, "For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'" I also have the wonderful opportunity to serve with Karin on the Medical Team, where she faithfully serves and readily fills in when there are holes. What an example she is as she serves usually with some of her children trailing behind her. I am so grateful that I got to know each member of the Lanthier family and love them dearly!"

What volunteer roles are you involved in?

Asher and Mirabella volunteer in Grace Kids, while Karin contributes to both the Medical Team and leads an Usher Team once a month. Samantha frequently assists Karin as an usher, and the other kids serve as needed as well. (We never intended to serve together, but it has worked out that way, and it's been a lot of fun!) We love our ushering weeks because of all the people we get to interact with. We've seen the younger children grow in confidence as they welcome and speak to new people on Sunday mornings.

How did God lead you to be involved in those areas?

During the COVID pandemic, when our meetings were outdoors, someone needed to manage the name tag table. Mirabella began volunteering and needed to arrive early, so Karin offered to assist with parking. This eventually led Kenneth to ask us to help with ushering when we transitioned back inside. My children graciously joined me in ushering and filled in whenever additional help was needed.

Mirabella and Asher love serving in Grace Kids. They know many of the children from our Community Group and the RGC Co-op, making it a great joy to interact with them on Sundays. After serving, they always come home with lots of stories. Asher especially likes it when the kids sing and dance. His favorite memories include having car races and fixing the cars when they break. Mirabella really enjoys building relationships with those she serves with.

How have you seen God at work in our church community?

We have seen the Spirit moving and working at Redeeming Grace Church. As a family, we've received LIFE through the Spirit moving in our community. Being involved in prayer through the RGC Co-op and missions, studying the Word of God through Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), listening to the teaching on Sunday mornings as we go through God's Word, and the fellowship from gathering with our Community Group. In the past year, we have been able to attend two weddings at the church as a family. What a gift to celebrate together as a body! The Spirit is moving. "Whoever has the Son has life." 1 John 5:12. We have more of God because of RGC, and for that, we are all so grateful. People are hungry for connection and to be known. We experience so many members engaging their hearts as they serve, not just checking a box.

Could you tell us some interesting facts about you?

We are a homeschooling family so we absolutely love being together. We enjoy exploring the outdoors, reading together, serving together, and growing together. Life is better together. We are honored to pray for our missionary friends, and we have been so blessed to be involved with foster care over the past 7 years. We invite all of you to come join us for some epic four-square tournaments!

Another fun fact. Our pets include a cockatiel, a hedgehog, a gecko, hermit crabs, and fish!
