RGCC StaffVolunteer Spotlight (1056 × 816 px) (820 × 312 px) (1)

At Redeeming Grace Church, we believe the church is not a building, it’s people serving together to glorify God. Every month, we will highlight a volunteer or staff member who serves with RGC because they make everything we do possible!

Today we want to introduce you to Matt Fredericks, our new Worship Coordinator!

M Fredericks

Could you tell us some interesting facts about you? (ex. Hobbies, interesting facts, family, etc.)

I am a graduate of George Mason University  and currently am a Health and P.E. teacher at Langston Hughes Middle School in Reston. I grew up in Culpeper, VA and moved to Fairfax after transferring to Mason in 2017. My parents still live in Culpeper and my brothers and sister-in-law are in the Northern VA area, so I enjoy spending time with them fairly often. In my free time, I enjoy playing guitar, disc golf, and many other physical activities.

*Matt was also recognized as this year's "Outstanding New Secondary Teacher" by Fairfax County Public Schools!

What does a "typical week" look like for you in your role?

As the new worship coordinator, I take care of most of the administrative needs that the worship team has every week. This includes scheduling worship team members, putting together song resources for the band, and maintaining consistent communication with the worship leaders. I also serve as one of the church's music directors and electric guitarists on Sundays.

How do you see God and the mission/vision of the church connected to your work?

In my new role and in my time on the worship team, I have been encouraged by the church's passion for singing and worshipping. Being made in God's image, we were created to worship God and give him glory, and it's a joy to be able to serve with the worship team to lead the church in worshipping God in song.

How have you been blessed by our church community?

I have loved my time at RGC since becoming a member back in 2020. When I graduated college, I was leaving a college ministry that I was heavily involved in, and I saw a community-sized hole in my life that I knew the church was meant to fill. After joining the worship team and getting involved with a community group, I had people who knew me deeply and who would point me to Jesus. I am extremely grateful for how the church has been faithful in building community.
