At Redeeming Grace Church, we believe the church is not a building, it’s people serving together to glorify God. We regularly highlight a volunteer or staff member who serves with RGC because they make everything we do possible!
Today, we want to introduce you to our Summer Interns: Jackson Huang, Mike Ruamthong, and Danny Wegerbauer! Here's what a fellow members and staff had to say about them:
Jackson has been an amazing addition to our worship and sound team, bringing with him a wealth of musical knowledge, but also substantial experience serving on worship bands and being mentored by Christian music artists from Liberty University. He's been helping with our weekly set design, song selections, musical arrangements, and even teaching some music theory to our band members! Thank you, Jackson, for serving!
~ Steven Zhou, On Staff at RGC
"Mike has been such a great addition to the college ministry! He's jumped right it getting to know all of us, welcoming us into his home, and leading the college ministry's Friday morning book study. Overall, he's been incredibly welcoming and is such an uplifting person. "
~Stephanie Krafsig, Member of RGC and a part of College Ministry
I have known Danny for many years and we have been through a lot together. I have watched him continue to hunger and thirst for God’s Word. His passion to rest in God’s sovereignty, enjoy His word, love his family, and share Christ with people continues to be a great example to me. He is living a life worthy of emulation. He is a gift to me and our partnership in the gospel excites my passion for Christ.
~Edward Hunt, Pastor of Community Life, Counseling, and Missions

What does a “typical week” look like for you in your role?
I am serving as a worship assistant by helping Steven Zhou to run the worship team every week. I check that the music arrangements are suitable for our worship leaders and congregation to sing, communicate with the worship team who serve each week, and make music charts when we sing new songs on Sundays. I also help host music workshops for the worship team in order to extend and improve our musical skills. I serve to help people on Sunday morning to have a better experience worshiping God. I am also currently an international student from China, doing a master’s degree at GMU so I help the other interns with their international student and college ministry.
How do you see God and the mission/vision of the church connected to your work?
People can become distracted from worshiping God when the worship team makes a mistake. Our goal (and my goal) is to help lead people to express their affection to the Lord. But our ministry is not just music. It is important to remember our ministry is not only work done on Sunday mornings, but that it is our life.
How have you seen God at work in our church community?
I came to the church not too long ago in August 2023. I am still at the stage of observing and seeing how God is using so many ministries at the same time at this church to bless the local community. I was part of the college ministry and we have been doing book studies every Friday morning since last year September. It’s really encouraging that fellow peers have a strong passion to learn God’s words together. It is a great blessing to be shepherded and to be served by the pastors and elders here and to be motivated by my friends there.
Could you tell us some interesting facts about you?
I used to live on a ship for a year and a half and I have traveled to 17 different countries while serving on board. Want to know more? Please come and chat with me! I would love to talk and get to know you more as well!

What does a “typical week” look like for you in your role?
As a summer intern, my primary focus is on our college ministry. This summer, we’re currently doing a book study, Friendship with God by Mike McKinley, once a week where we eat breakfast together and discuss the chapters we’ve read. We also host gatherings in homes, monthly lunches, and casual hangouts for games and sports. I’m actively praying and developing ways to revitalize our college ministry for George Mason students this coming fall. Outside of college ministry, the summer interns all meet together once a week for a discussion led by Vince or Steven.
How do you see God and the mission/vision of the church connected to your work?
Our church’s college ministry exists to glorify God by building laborers on the college campus for the lost world. We are passionate about reaching the George Mason community with the gospel and training them to become mature followers of Christ. Our vision is for those involved in our ministry to leave George Mason equipped to make disciples in every sphere of influence—community, business, education, and beyond—both locally and globally. With George Mason’s student enrollment surpassing 40,000 this past year, we believe God has strategically placed us here for a purpose. I am excited to see how God will work through our church in the coming year.
How have you seen God at work in our church community?
Even though I've only been here since the spring, I am continually amazed at how God has been at work in this community. Every time I arrive on Sundays, I am warmly greeted by the welcoming team, reminding me and others of how Christ has welcomed us. If someone were to ask me what Sunday services at RGC have been like so far, I would tell them they are God-centered, Christ-exalting, Spirit-led, and Bible-saturated. Outside of Sunday services, it brings me great joy to see all the members working together. College students, balancing their studies and campus studies, actively engage in serving our local church, creating a vibrant intergenerational community. Our pastors faithfully teach God’s word and lovingly shepherd our congregation, nurturing our spiritual growth in Christ. Our members enthusiastically practice hospitality and evangelism, reaching out to their communities and workplaces to make disciples. These are just a few of many examples I've witnessed of God's work here.
Could you tell us some interesting facts about you?
I love being outdoors, exploring new places, playing sports, and singing with others. I have a sweet two-year-old daughter named Aletheia. Her name means "truth" in Greek. I lived in Minnesota for a couple years to attend seminary. It gave me a newfound appreciation for the winters we have here in Virginia.

What does a “typical week” look like for you in your role?
My main focus is International Student Ministry! Every week is a little different for me but usually I meet with students on campus, lead a Bible study for English learners, and am praying and planning what an International Student Ministry through our church could look like in the coming school year.
How do you see God and the mission/vision of the church connected to your work?
We’re blessed to live in an area where we can “make disciples of all nations” without even leaving our neighborhoods! I love that our church has such a heart for this, and I’m excited to be a part of helping our church family to proclaim Christ to the international community in the DMV. Part of my role is creating opportunities for relationships between members and students to flourish and equipping our church to share the gospel with confidence.
How have you seen God at work in our church community?
When Sojourn and RGC first merged, I was nervous about feeling lost in the crowd of such a big church. But now, I look around on a Sunday morning and it feels more like a family reunion! It’s been awesome to get to know and learn from saints of all ages and walks of life.
Could you tell us some interesting facts about you?
I met my wife, Ellim when we were both studying at Mason, and we’ve been married for five years. Our son, Micah, is almost four and loves books, bikes, and bagels. Our daughter, Lilah is almost two and she also loves books, dancing, and imitating her big brother.
Some of my hobbies are riding my bike, watching professional cycling, reading, and learning languages. But my biggest hobby is probably browsing Wikipedia for useless trivia and sharing it with anyone who will listen.
