The Satrom Family (1)

At Redeeming Grace Church, we believe the church is not a building, it’s people serving together to glorify God. We regularly highlight volunteers and staff members who serve with RGC because they make everything we do possible!

Today we want to introduce you to the Satrom Family, which includes Rob, Hayley, Hannah (12), Lydia (10), and James (7).

Here is what a member of the church had to say about them:

“It is a great joy and encouragement to be friends with the Satrom family. Romans 12:6 exhorts us to use the gifts we’ve been given to serve the body of Christ. The Satroms answer this call by joyfully and humbly using their gifts to lead, teach, counsel, and show hospitality to the church body. Thank you for building up and blessing us Satrom family!"

What volunteer roles are you involved in?

Hayley, Rob, and Hannah enjoy serving in Grace Kids. Hayley teaches the Eagles 2nd grade class and Rob is a helper with the Penguins kindergarten class. Hannah recently turned 12 and is excited to begin serving in the church nursery. This past summer Hayley and Hannah bravely led the missions portion of VBS together which was super fun and super WILD! Hayley also enjoys giving announcements on Sunday mornings and partners with Edward and Stephanie in the counseling ministry. Rob has a passion for music and often serves on Sunday mornings by leading our congregation in worshiping God!

How did God lead you to be involved in those areas?

Our three kids are in Grace Kids and we know how much they have benefited from good children’s ministry. It is a great ministry and we know it can’t exist without the help of volunteers. That was first on our list of ministries to get involved in when we joined. It is so important and fulfilling to get involved in teaching and helping the children of the church learn more about Jesus on Sunday mornings.

How have you seen God at work in our church community?

There are so many ways we see God working within RGC. We love the expressiveness of the congregation during worship on Sunday mornings. It is so encouraging to see the church worship God, especially in response to his word being preached. We are really grateful for the excellent preaching on Sunday mornings and believe God is richly feeding RGC through the pastors and elders who teach. God has also ministered to us through the friendships we have built in our community group. We are grateful for those friendships and commend joining a community group to anyone who is not in one. There’s much more we could say about how God has been at work (such as the Week of Prayer & Fasting, Five15 Youth Ministry, HYPO Week, baptisms, etc), but those are a few of the highlights!

Could you tell us some interesting facts about you?

Hayley moved around like a military family growing up, though her dad was in the telecom industry (not the military). She was born in Tennessee, and moved to many states, landing in California where she attended college (Fight On, USC Trojans!). Rob is from Oklahoma and went to college in Missouri. We met in DC at Capitol Hill Baptist Church in 2006, fell in love, got married, and now have three kids: Hannah (12), Lydia (10), and James (7). Hayley loves to read, go on walks, play card games, and spend time with friends. Rob is a sports fanatic and has way too many teams that he roots for, but is particularly fond of the Oklahoma City Thunder (basketball) and the Atlanta Braves (baseball) (although, Hayley is trying to convert the family to be Nats fans). As a family we enjoy s’mores, movie nights, playing outside, and taking trips to see our many out-of-town family members.
