At Redeeming Grace Church, we believe the church is not a building, it’s people serving together to glorify God. We regularly highlight volunteers and staff members who serve with RGC because they make everything we do possible!
Today we want to introduce you to the Sutor Family, which includes Dave, Jane, and their daughter Emily.
Here is what a member of the church had to say about them:
"I am so grateful for the Sutor family. They are a constant source of Christ’s love and friendship to everyone they interact with. Whether through their service in the Career ministry, Dave’s service as an elder, their participation in various Sunday service roles, or just being a welcoming family for members and guests, Dave, Jane, and Emily have each shown how much care and passion they have for Christ and for our church. Many have been uniquely blessed by how they help people feel like part of their family and our church community. Their love for Christ and for Redeeming Grace Church is evident and overflows into everyone around them. Dave, Jane, and Emily, thank you for your faithfulness in loving Christ and loving others in all that you do. We are very blessed to have you as members of our community!"
~ Alex Fyffe, Member of RGC
What volunteer roles are you involved in?
Dave and Jane lead the Career ministry, a ministry for working young adults in their 20s and 30s in our church. "We both have a heart for young adults and love spending time with them in our home and at church. We have also led a community group at RGC for over 20 years and Dave has served as an elder for about 6 years now!"
Emily helps to lead the Career ministry and is responsible for all our social media presence and games. "I bring the 'younger demographic"'perspective to all our planning meetings! I serve on the announcement team where I give announcements with energy and enthusiasm on Sunday mornings to share important church life updates and exciting upcoming events! I also co-lead a community group for young adults with Sara and Jonathan Luo. Our community group meets at my parents' home each week which they love."
How did God lead you to be involved in those areas?
"Our family felt a need for this demographic and were excited when the Lord led us to start up the Career ministry together. Ironically, this was right before Covid hit and we only got in a few meetings before having to switch to zoom! It's been so neat to see how God has brought many new people and used the Career ministry to build community amongst this age group."
How have you seen God at work in our church community?
"In recent years, it's been encouraging to see the increase in diversity in our community and the continued development of relationships in our multigenerational church."
Could you tell us some interesting facts about you?
"We are originally from England but have been in the U.S. and part of this church for over 25 years, even though we thought we were only coming for 12 months!" Dave and Jane have also just celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary.
Dave is an avid Manchester United supporter and loves all things soccer! "I enjoy reading and listening to podcasts, drinking red wine and coffee, and traveling. I enjoy meeting new people, hanging out with friends and family, and being 'Pops' to my grandchildren."
Jane enjoys hospitality and loves to host. "I take my role of 'Grandma' very seriously and love to spend time with my two adorable granddaughters. I also enjoy scrapbooking, reading, and love both being at home, and also traveling."
Emily loves being with people and has inherited Jane's gift of hospitality. "I am a second grade teacher at a Fairfax County public school and love my students. Outside of school, I love spending time with family and friends and will take any excuse to read at the beach or the pool. I adore being 'Auntie Em' to my nieces and 'Miss Emily' to my mini-buddies at church."
